What is EMBR?

Life is full of possibilities and opportunities. With social media, we now live in global communities. We are not limited by size of local community or lack of information.  The greatest challenge comes from determining who you are and what is important to you –finding the “thing” that inspires you to get up every day and do what you.  The good news is once you do that, it makes it so much easier to process new information. Part of this process is to understand your strengths and weaknesses. You also need to know; who will you need to connect to in order to fulfill your goals. What experts will you need to enlist? What kind of mentor would be inspiring to you? How will you articulate your dreams and connect that to what other people understand? read more »

Relationship and Social Trend Predictions for 2010

I am sure the internet will be full of financial, technological, and global affairs/issues predictions so I will not bother speaking about things that other people are way more informed than I to speak on. What I will talk about is relationships and social communication trends. There is a long list of reasons as to how and why I have become so tuned in and passionate about social shifts and how they are affecting our relationships. I do not share my thoughts with you because I am particular fond of worry or doom and gloom. I simply believe a little awareness goes a long way and the result of actions based on awareness, creates more opportunity for positive impact. read more »

Connecting is Better than Networking.

There is difference between connecting and networking. If you don’t believe me reflect on how you feel when you experience each one. The networking experience might bring up thoughts of events where you sport the infamous “Hello my name is” sticker while trying to figure out what you need to say to whom, carefully avoiding people who seem determined to sell you something on approach. A connecting experience might bring up thoughts of moments when you knew someone understood you, where you felt comfortable to trust and forge a relationship with them. Another difference between the two might be speed: Networking seems to be approached with speed where connecting takes some time. read more »

Halloween, Corporate Culture and Burning Man

My friend pointed out to me last week that he was “beginning to hear a theme” in our conversations. I am willing to bet if you asked five other people I speak with the most, they would tell you they hear my theme too. Everybody has a theme, it is the stage of theme that differs. A theme might be based on insecurities and fears, some you are willing to conquer and others that might be too hard to face. A theme can be based on passion and purpose; you might be in the process of gathering your thoughts or you might be laser-focused on certain actions and activities that are helping you visualize your life purpose. read more »

Why SocialBling, Why Now?

There is a long list of really important words and phrases that seem to be frowned upon – Commitment, Relationship, “We Need to Talk” and “It Is Not Working” comes to mind. She has EVOO, I have EMBR

I like and admire Rachael Ray for many reasons. She is transparently-quirky, charitable and driven by her passions. In 2001 she was relatively unknown yet in three short years she was well on her way; making her mark with TV and radio shows, books and merchandise lines. I also like that she is now 41, and did all of this in her 30’s, proving that it never too late to reach for your dreams even if we are living in a “younger is better” nation. read more »
